Remembering the life and service of D. Mark Seabrook

D. Mark Seabrook, 69, passed away Monday April 5, 2021 at the Daniel Drake Rehab Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was born in New Albany to the late Donald and Floris Seabrook. Mark had a passion for public service. He served the Southern Indiana community for many years as the Owner and Operator of the Seabrook Funeral Home (now Naville & Seabrook Funeral Homes). Mark served as a Floyd County Commissioner and he was on the New Albany City Council for several years. He was a past president of the Louisville Comprehensive Care M.S. Center, past chairman of the board and president of Harvest Homecoming. He was also past president of the Horseshoe Foundation, served on the Providence Retirement Home Board of Directors, the Child Protective Services Board and was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Ellen K. Seabrook; his daughter, Corinne Moore (Greg); his grandsons, Daniel and William Moore; and his sister, Karen Bunch.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 9, 2021 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 1752 Scheller Ln., New Albany, with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Market Street Chapel of Naville & Seabrook Funeral Homes, 1119 E. Market St., New Albany. If you are planning to attend, the family requests that you please wear a mask.
Memorial contributions may be given to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.

Floyd County Republican Party chairman Jeff Firkins issued a statement regarding Seabrook’s death.

“We have lost a truly great man. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Mark Seabrook,” Firkins said. “He exemplified honor and integrity and should be remembered as a leader who was trusted and admired by all that knew him. New Albany and Floyd County are better for having Mark as a leader in our community.”
